SCALLOPS SCALLOPS SCALLOPS

July 15th signals the opening of the scallop season down here in the sounds and we made a plan to get out there and sample these delectable little gems.

The goal was to scope out one of our favourite beds, see how the little guys are doing, size, amounts etc then take some home for the table!Happy to report that there are heaps aronds and their condition looks pretty good with the size and weight of the roes improving as the season goes on. Can't wait!

Hopefully Grant pulls his strings and we get in the paper (eh Grant!)

Well done to Sara Findlater- first time fresh scallop taster!

Cheers
Ben

Today was the final dives for the team of Anna, Coutnry, Paul and Danger. We seriously considered putting them off untill December due to the weather forecast but the guys said no way- we want to nail it today! Well famous last words- it was definately chilly! (thats probably an understatement eh Courtney?)
The conditions on the Koi weren't the greatest but the team were awesome and performed well.
Cheers Guys and welcome to the family.

The Team-Grant (Dive Con) Danger (yes thats his name!), Paul, Courtney and Anna.

We have to hand it to these guys who are braving the chilly water temperatures today to begin the transformation into Divers.
Check out the smiles before we get to the water!

The guru team- Courtney, Anna, Paul, Danger and Grant (Dive con) BEFORE the dive!

After braving 10 degrees for 30 mins!

Nice and warm logging the dives- note the hotwater bottle under Courtney's clothes!
Great thing is we get to do it all again tomorrow!
See you then

Deep Dive Specialty dive down at 35 metres trying to tie our shoelaces! Bit of a mission when the lamp goes out and the bottom gets stirred up but well done guys.

Tex coming up from his shoe tying at 35metres!
Snow Diving

With the sea conditions pretty average the last week we decided to ascend to altitude and get some snow.
It seems that no matter where we go we have to take a dive- even if it is with our heads in the snow!
Had a great time up Mt Lyford with the kids, warm log cabin, and some great home brewed wine (Cheers Bill and Adrienne!)
